PENCAPAIAN KOMPETENSI MATHEMATICAL MODELING MATHEMATICS SISWA DENGAN GAYA KOGNITIF FIELD INDEPENDENT DAN FIELD DEPENDENT

The purpose of this study was to describe the achievement mathematical modeling competencies students with field-independent and field-dependent cognitive styles. type research used a mixed method involving 65 SMP N 7 Muaro Jambi students. data obtained through GETF style test, problem-solving interviews. results showed that FI had reached level 6 in competence, namely, performing entire process interpret validate solutions against context given problem situation. Meanwhile, FD up 4 can translate real problems into (mathematical models) but cannot use them correctly mathematics, even though quality models built by is not appropriate solve problems.
